Diego Lainez Leyva is a Mexican professional football player who currently plays as a winger for Spanish club Real Betis Balompié and the Mexico national team. He was born on June 9, 2000, in Villahermosa, Mexico.
Lainez started his youth career at Club America and made his senior debut for the club in 2017. In 2019, he signed with Real Betis for a reported fee of €14 million, becoming the most expensive Mexican player ever at the time.
He has represented Mexico at various levels, including the Under-17, Under-20, and Under-23 teams. Lainez made his senior international debut for Mexico in September 2018, and has since become a regular member of the squad.
Lainez is known for his dribbling ability, quickness, and versatility as a winger who can play on either flank. He has been compared to Mexican football legends like Cuauhtémoc Blanco and Hugo Sánchez in the past.
